Oh Etsy | Travel Essentials

Top 3 picks for a smoother flight next time you go abroad | www.highwallsblog.com

After my mini holiday last weekend, I have come to realise I am in the market for some travel essentials. I quite like airline travel but there’s no denying that the cramped cabins can be uncomfortable. Here are my top 3 picks for a smoother flight next time you go abroad. What are your travel essentials?

1 /Am I the only one who freezes on planes? It doesn’t matter what airline, I am always ridiculously cold, so something like this beautiful blue handwoven shawl from Texturable  is a must.

2 / Interstate travel obviously doesn’t require a passport, but a good travel wallet is still super handy to have! Store your boarding passes, itineraries and hotel details for easy access in this stylish travel wallet from Sidonie Yang.

3 / When I was younger I could sleep anywhere in any light, but now that I’m getting older I need darkness to get a good sleep. On a plane, that means a sleep mask – like this Polka dot cat mask from Julia Wine - plus: Super cute!

Winter has finally come and once again it is time to sort my wardrobe to make room for my warmer clothes. As someone who hates doing laundry, my closet is usually only half filled with the rest of my clothes in a basket, perpetually waiting to be hung up. But now, with my wardrobe properly sorted for once, I notice something…. God DAMN I have a lot of blue clothes! Like… a lot! As a rule I tend to stick with blacks and neutral colours, occasionally splurging on one or two brighter pieces. But Looking at my wardrobe it would seem that navy, pale and cobalt blues have been a favourite in recent times.

Whatever, I’m totally embracing it! Let’s do this! I want all of these pretty blues in my life ASAP! What can I say: I’m Blue (da-ba-dee da-ba-die)

ONE / EpUU make the prettiest things from lace. Would you look at this navy Lace Necklace!

TWO / The King himself would love these  Blue Oxfords by Adi Kelav - My kind of blue suede shoes!

THREE / We already talked about how good red and blue go together, so of course these Earth, Wind & Fire Watercolours by Lillian Fairall are perfection.

FOUR / I will never not love a good clutch and this  Navy Clutch by Good Mood Moon would be a great addition to my collection.

Oh Etsy: Red, White & Blue

Red, White and Blue. There’s no denying it, these three colours really were made for one another. Whether is be on the flag made famous for these colours (not forgetting that England, Australia and New Zealand all share these colours on our flags as well!), or in every day life; you really can’t beat this perfect trio.

ONE / I probably wouldn’t be able to resist trying to ‘wear’ this oversized watch Wall Clock from Andrew Neyer

TWO / A simple Downloadable Print from The Midnight Shop to keep you motivated every day!

THREE / I almost wouldn’t mind being woken up by this pretty little Alarm Clock from Things That Were

FOUR / The little kid inside of me totally wants this Vintage Jump Rope from DOTTO

Find ways to liven up your work space with these office staples from Etsy (via www.highwallsblog.com)

I’ve been temping around the city the last couple of weeks, working for a few days at a time in a whole range of different offices. The one thing I’ve noticed is the huge lack of originality in said offices. It’s got me rethinking my own home office. When you spend so much time in one place you want it to be inspiring! Even paperwork deserves a stylish home, so here are a few office staples that I think could liven up some of these boring office spaces…

1 / Pens are an office essential, so if you’re going to have a pen holder how could you go by this adorable Beechwood pencil holder from Chocolate Creative?

2 / Normal desks are boring. This turquoise Tressel Table/Desk by Seven Hands High is super stylin!

3 / Every good office (and desk) needs a Vintage Globe to add that little bit of interest and class (via 86Home)

4 / Paper & Clay  have your early morning coffee fix covered with this gorgeous hand crafted Coffee Mug. Definitely a office staple.

Every week I share a collection of wonderful finds from around the Etsy market place, but every now and again I come across a shop that has so many great items that there is no way I can only share one or two. When I stumbled onto The Print Makers my heart (and my inner child) skipped a beat…

Lovingly extracted from their original books, The Print Makers offers pages from your favourite childhood stories to frame for your home: books like Winnie the Pooh, The Wind in the Willows, MadelineBeatrix Potter and Babar just to name a few! We all have our favourite childhood picture books, but often the illustrations featured in these texts are overlooked for the quality works of art they are. These pictures, even in isolation, showcase little details and vibrant colours that with a only single glance invoke feelings of nostalgia and fond memories.

Check out the extensive collection of story books and nursery rhyme prints as well as vintage advertisements and even  plants and animal illustrations. There are so many books featured from my childhood, I’m having difficulties choosing which pages I want to adorn my walls! Which books would you choose?
